History Of American Ki San Do

American Ki San Do was founded after spending  31 years training in the American Ji Do Kwan system. Master Horn obtained the rank of 8th Degree Black Belt in American Ji Do Kwan. Master Horn then decided to go out on his own and develop a martial art system that added to the  Ji Do Kwan art's techniques to better serve today's modern society. On March 12th, 2006 the American Ki San Do Martial Arts system became offiicial. The system was recognized by the Ateru Worldwide Association and the United Martial Arts Association. Master Horn was then recognized as the founder and was promoted to the rank of 10th degree black belt or Grandmaster. American Ki San Do is based on three martial arts disciplines. This merger combines the striking, punching, kicking, and blocks of Karate with the throws, sweeps, choke holds, and grappling of Judo with the joint and bone locking techniques, and restraining hold of Jujitsu. We also have some of the snake system of Kung Fu added for additional ground defense and fighting. We train in the use of traditional martial arts weapons. We also train in what I call the Jackie Chan weapon style. Which is to use anything and everything as a weapon for defense or offense.  The merger of these disciplines has produced a well adept Martial Arts System the teaches adaptability, discipline, and self-confidence through the perfection of your character

Mission Statement of American Ki San Do

The mission of the American Ki San Do Martial Arts Association is in the following points:

1. To teach high quality Martial Arts to the public in general.

2. To use the Martial Arts we teach as a positive influence in the lives of our students, the public's perception of us, and our Art in general.

3. To produce highly qualified and motivated teachers and to promote and spread the American Ki San Do Martial Arts as developed by it's founder Grandmaster Herman F. Horn

The Meaning of our Patch

Our system has it's base in Karate with Judo and Jujitsu added in to compliment and fortify the karate we are teaching.

1. The BLUE in the patch represents the sweat of hard work.

2. The RED in the patch represents the bloodline of our Martial Arts family.

3. The BLACK BELT in the patch represents our journey in creating  the unity of mind , body, and spirit

4. The GOLD outline represents the preciousness of our inner self and our art.

5. The WHITE letters represents the strive of purity and perfection of character.

Quotes From Sensei Horn

All of my Sensei's and I have had different quotes they have said in class and in life. Here are some of them I feel I need to pass on.

1. Practice, Practice, Practice.

2. Always do your best you might only have one chance to do it.

3. Remember there is no second place in self defense! Second place is either hurt, hospital, or the morgue.

4. Never ever settle for less than your personal best.

5. I will do today what you will not. So tomorrow I will be able to do what you can not.

6. Practice and train like your life depends on it. Someday it Very well might.

7. The more you sweat in practice the less you will bleed in battle.

8. If it is not done right in practice it will not work right in battle.

9. Remember experience is a brutal teacher. It test first and if you survive it teaches later!!!!!

10. Remember old age and treachery will overcome youth and skill. Just because someone looks old does not mean they can't defend themselves. You don't get to a old age without learning some great devastating tricks to use if you need to.

11. From white belt to black belt you shape the tool. At black belt you learn how to use it.
